Activate Your Smart Camera by Registering an Account
Before your smart camera can begin protecting your home, create a Nest account. It serves as a digital control panel for your security device. If absent, the camera cannot be activated, configured, or accessed remotely.
Now, your smartphone is the platform you will use to download the mobile app. Open the app once installed and proceed to sign up by selecting "Sign Up." Then, input a legitimate email address, full name, and a suitable password. For safety purposes, the password should combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Once your information is submitted, you will receive an email with a verification link. Be sure to look for this link, as this is extremely important for your access. You will need to click the link to accept your request to create new Nest account. If you do not complete this step, you will not be able to log in, and impossible for you to add your camera to the app.
Once the verification is complete, you can log in to the app and click "Add Device." At this time, you can turn on your smart camera (be sure to do so closer to your router so the signal is strong enough). If all goes well, the app will discover the device and walk you through the steps to add and connect your camera. You will pick out your Wi-Fi network and enter the Wi-Fi password, and finally pick the name of the camera's location.
When you decide to create a Nest account, you will have live video streaming capabilities, motion detection notifications, and remote control of your cameras. If you plan to add additional devices to your smart home later on, this same account can add and maintain all of the future devices.
If you are unable to create your new Nest account, double-check your email spelling, check that you have the latest app updates, and check if you have a working internet connection. You can also try restarting the app or reinstalling it completely to get a fresh start.
Creating an account might seem like a small step, but this essential functionality turns your smart camera into a secure and well-functioning part of your smart home system.
