Oxycodone is used to treat moderate to severe pain, it reduces pain by activating opioid receptors in the nervous system. Oxycodone belongs to the group of pain medicines known as narcotic analgesics. Oxycodone can be used as a single-ingredient pain reliever, Oxycodone and Roxicodone) and it is also available in combination with acetaminophen. Oxycodone is available in immediate-release and extended-release forms. The immediate-release tablets are Oxycodone 5mg, 10mg, 15mg, 20mg, or 30mg, and extended-release tablets are Oxycodone 10mg, 15mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg, 60mg and 80mg. The immediate-release tablets are used for acute (short-term) pain, and the extended-release tablets are used to treat severe and chronic pain requiring longer treatment. 

Uses of Oxycodone

The use of Oxycodone is to relieve chronic moderate to severe pain or Acute pain to severe pain.

Some derivatives of this drug are indicated to help with comfort such as surgery, some types of cancer, or painful injuries such as bone fractures.   • Don’t use this medication during pregnancy, it may harm an unborn baby, this drug passes into breast milk and affects the baby. So, consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
